We the undersigned citizens of Canada and people of the world, beseech Her Majesty the Queen of England in the Right of Ontario, Madeleine Meilleur the Attorney general of Ontario to unconditionally withdraw the 2nd degree murder charge against Mr. Peter Khill of Binbrook Ontario for acting in reasonable defense of himself and his property warding off a thief in the night on his property at 3:00 a.m., February 4, 2016 that regrettably led to the criminal succumbing to his injuries while committing a crime.
The Criminal Code of Canada is designed to keep the Queen's Peace ensuring Canadians abide by the law. Unfortunately, the police are unable to attend a scene to assist the public they serve when a crime is taking place leaving the citizen to protect life, limb and property until the police do arrive long minutes after the perpetrator has left the scene and long after the danger the citizen faces. Far too often, the police arrive to find the citizen badly hurt or killed by the criminal who has fled long before the police get there having no power to protect the citizen.
Mr. Peter Khill has been charged with 2nd degree murder for using his firearm to stop a thief on his property just shortly after 3:00am, on Thursday February 4, 2016, . The deceased man has been identified as 29 year old, Jonathon Dwight Styres of Oshweken Ontario. Hamilton Police news release here.
Canadians must have a right to use as much force as needed to protect their families, children, life, limb and property without fear of prosecution. This may include, deadly force. Law abiding Canadians should not be subjected to prosecution for exercising this right otherwise giving criminals power over the citizens they have no concern for and willing to harm or kill.
I have personally experienced a home invasion and would not have hesitated to use as much force as needed to protect my children and my home. Had I hesitated, or feared being criminally charged for protecting my family, I may have exposed my children and myself to potential mortal danger. If you strongly believe in a right to protect your life, limb and property, please sign the petition sending a strong message to law enforcement and the Crown that charging law abiding citizens is not in the public interest.
Again, we the people of Canada and elsewhere in the world beseech Her Majesty the Queen of England in the Right of Ontario, Madeleine Meilleur the Attorney general of Ontario to unconditionally withdraw the 2nd degree murder charge against Mr. Peter Khill of Binbrook Ontario for acting in reasonable defense of himself and his property warding off a thief in the night on his property at 3:00 a.m., February 4, 2016. .
