Did you know that Queensland is the only state in Australia that doesn't offer government funded home births?

The Friends of the Mackay Birth Centre would love for home births to become a genuine birthing option for women in our community, but we need up to date evidence from our community as to whether this service would be supported here in Mackay.

As with the Mackay Birth Centre, a home birth option would be intended to be available to low risk birth centre mothers-to-be who live within a 30km radius of Mackay. In-home risk assessments would be carried out, and homes would be set up ready for the birth at approximately 36 weeks to allow for home births from 37 weeks. 2 birth centre midwives would be present at the home birth.
