24 more Irish greyhounds are en route to the Canidrome racetrack hellhole in China, according to Dogs Trust Ireland.
In a statement issued today, May 12th, the group states: "Dogs Trust is most concerned to read reports that a further 24 greyhounds are currently being transported from Ireland to Macau. We understand that these dogs are being moved via the UK to Hong Kong and onwards to Macau. We are engaging with the relevant authorities to ensure that this matter is investigated urgently and that, if possible, the movement is stopped before the dogs leave the EU."
"Dogs Trust, the ISPCA and the Irish Blue Cross are totally opposed to the export of greyhounds to China’s only legal Greyhound track the Yat Yuen Canidrome, which has a deplorable welfare record," the statement adds. "We once again strongly call on the IGB, The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and airline carriers to put an end to this deplorable trade in misery."
Quoted in a Manchester Evening News report today, Michael James of greyhound protection group, Caged North West said: "We received information 24 greyhounds are coming to Manchester from Ireland, they travelled on a ferry from Holyhead. We managed to intercept the vehicle at Lymm services. They are Manchester bound to Manchester Airport, the flight destination is China." http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/manchester-airport-greyhounds-china-protest-11322799
