Release a Star Wars novel about Obi-Wan and Satine
The Issue
In 2010, Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced Star Wars fans to the relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Satine Kryze, who had fallen in love in the years prior to the Phantom Menace. Ever since then, fans have imagined how the romance between Obi-Wan and Satine could have unfolded in the pre-Phantom Menace era.
In the 10 years since the Obi-Wan and Satine romance (affectionately known as "Obitine") was first introduced, Star Wars has given us romances such as the one depicted in Claudia Gray's Lost Stars novel, the (thankfully) short relationship between Finn and Rose in The Last Jedi, and the now-infamous "Reylo" ship portrayed in the sequel trilogy. However, Star Wars has given us little about the Obitine relationship, which I believe to be a more compelling relationship than any of the Star Wars romances I just mentioned.
In light of Lucasfilm's recent attempt to produce more prequel-era content, I believe that now would be the perfect time for the release of a Star Wars novel about Obi-Wan and Satine. My dream pick to write this novel would be Claudia Gray, as she proved with her novel Master and Apprentice that she can handle the characters of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn almost as well as Jude Watson handled the characters in her "Jedi Apprentice" series. Gray has also shown that she can write romance well. However, if Gray is not available to write this novel because of her involvement in the "High Republic" publishing campaign, I would gladly take a novel from any author willing to tackle the Obitine relationship. My only wish is that we, the fans, finally get to explore the beginning of Obi-Wan and Satine's fated romance.
