Hi everyone,
Here's an overdue update:
Last March, I visited LTFRB to gain a better understanding of the process of launching a new P2P bus route. They furnished me a copy of their Memo Circular (MC) 2017-001 and an amendment on it through MC 2017-005. Today I found MC 2017-007, which provides a favorable update for us all. For those who are curious, I've attached PDFs of all 3 circulars below, but here are the points I find most relevant:
-Jan 21, 2017: The Alabang - BGC route is now an official proposed P2P route but is packaged with Alabang-Bacoor and Alabang-Dasmarinas in a single franchise. Proposed one-way fare is P135 (Thoughts?). Deadline of pre-qualification documents for bus operators is June 30, 2017.
-Feb 16, 2017: Thanks to public demand, deadline of pre-qualification documents is moved earlier -- to March 31, 2017. (Wuhoo! Thank yourselves for this one.)
-Mar 30, 2017: The Alabang - BGC route is officially a standalone franchise package to be awarded by the LTFRB. This should make bidding for the route simpler. Proposed fare stays at P135.
I've since learnt that two bus companies bid for our desired route. While I don't want to jump the gun, one of them says they are confident it will be awarded to them. As for WHEN we can expect the awarding and implementation, the memos do not say.
Safe to say that for the time being, we've done our part. Let's hope that the bus companies submitted quality applications and that LTFRB acts fast in awarding the best one! It has, after all, been 2 months since applications were due.
So now we wait!
Micaela
