My story is a common one among residents of Alexandria, LA. Each month, we dread the arrival of our electric bills, fearing the excessive charges that have become the norm. Just like you, I have been receiving exceedingly high bills.

Our city, famous for its rich history and hospitality, has an issue that needs addressing. Our electric bills are significantly higher than the national average. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average monthly electric bill in Louisiana is about $115, while many residents of Alexandria, including myself, find themselves regularly having to pay bills in excess of $300.

Not only does this significantly impact our cost of living which for most of us  making just enough to survive, but it also puts a severe financial strain on many families. This isn't just an issue of money, it's a matter of fairness and justice.

We are calling on the local and state authorities to look into the cause behind these steep rates and find a way to lower them. We understand that infrastructure and maintenance are important, but so are the livelihood and wellbeing of Alexandria's residents.
