As you know Texas is the 2nd most leading state in our country for sex trafficking and Houston, Texas is the number 1 city in the country for sex trafficking. In a report study from University of Texas in Austin stated that approximately 313,000 people are victims to sex trafficking many of those people are young women ages 18 to 21. Those stats are only the cases reported. The number of sex trafficking is also rising as our border to Mexico is getting more unstable. Also sex trafficking in our state is costing Texas 6.6 billion dollars each year also stated in the study from university of Texas in Austin.  
      These are some of the reasons why many of us young women ranging from 18 to 20 feel vulnerable as we off going to college and moving out on our own. We always have to watch our backs in public and make sure we aren’t being followed. Many of us are scared to leave our house and go out alone because the thought of getting kidnapped and put into sex trafficking or being killed is not worth going out to buy that pink dress to wear to Easter brunch. Many of us young women feel like our government doesn’t care about our safety here in the state of Texas and doesn’t allow us to have access to protect ourselves through conceal carry. I’m here to state that pepper spray isn’t enough to stop someone from taking you off the streets. Many of us question why can we shoot a gun and protect ourselves during war in another country like Iraq but not be able to conceal a gun out in public in our own state when there are sex traffickers and murders out there. For the safety of our young people will you lower conceal carry to 18 in the state of Texas.
