Lower Rent Prices in London for Single Working Individuals

Lower Rent Prices in London for Single Working Individuals
The Issue
I am a single woman striving to make ends meet in London. My job enables me to live independently, but meeting the rental requirements for a one-bedroom flat in this city feels almost impossible. Working full time should afford a person the basic human right of a roof over their head. However, in this city, agencies and landlords set exceptionally high standards, demanding double the annual salary, making it unrealistic and simply unaffordable for individuals like me. This story is not unique to me but shared by thousands of hard workers in London. As per recent reports, London is the sixth most expensive city to rent in the world (source: BBC News). It's high time the London rental market adapts a more equitable model considering the realities of income and affordability. This petition seeks to push for legislative and policy changes that will make it possible for single working people to afford rent in London, reducing barriers and easing rental requirements to reflect real incomes, rather than overinflated expectations. Stand up for equitable rental prices. Please sign this petition.
