This morning I noticed what looks to be an Algae bloom. I quickly compared what im seeing to documentation we have from DEM concerning BLUE GREEN ALGAE. I quickly made a call to DEM to have this confirmed. We as of right now have NOT confirmed this to be blue-green algae however it is highly suspected. This algae is along the shoreline as far as I can see.

Stay out of the water until we can confirm this. If this is in fact blue-green algae, it's HIGHLY TOXIC and DANGEROUS. This will KILL your pets rapidly and it will also make you severely ill.

Humans whose skin has come into contact with toxic blue-green algae can develop rashes, blisters and hives, and eye and nose irritations.

If swallowed, humans may experience diarrhea, vomiting or neurotoxicity. Humans exhibiting neurotoxicity may feel numb lips, tingling in fingers and toes, and dizziness.

Pets, livestock and waterfowl that ingest water with blue-green algae toxins can also experience sickness, paralysis or even death.

Neurotoxicity in animals is characterized by salivation, weakness, staggering, difficulty breathing, and convulsions.

If these symptoms are experienced or observed in pets and children after contact with a blue-green algae bloom, consult a medical professional.

I hope I am wrong but we need to assume this is exactly what it looks like. **This would be the first time I've seen this type of bloom on our pond, ever.**

Keep pets and people OUT of the water until I send you out an update.
