Love's Law - Vulnerable Persons Alert
The Issue
There are AMBER alerts for youth - there should be alerts for all vulnerable people - especially elderly with disabilities, Dementia / Alzheimer's.
Having worked with this population in the past I know how easy it is for them to get turned around and disoriented, unable to communicate and sacred - we need some sort of alert to let everyone know to keep an eye out. People that may not have social media, cable or means of seeing online pictures need to be notified as well.
My heart like many other broke when we got the news of Shirley's passing. My hope is with enough signatures on this petition, we can take it to the appropriate people to possibly expidite the Silver Alert Act - this is something that shouldn't take much thought in my eyes.
I do not know this family, I have never met Shirley or her husband - but when I saw her eyes - they spoke to me - my heart became full of pain for someone I didn't know - I like many others took to the streets and brush - hours upon hours - tears upon tears - for a complete stranger - but again, her eyes spoke to me as if she was my grandmother - I had to find her. Now, with the absolute worst outcome, we share her story in hopes it opens more eyes. Our elderly are JUST as vulnerable as or youth. It's our elders that led the way for us. We owe them safety. We owe them AT LEAST that.e
Let's get so many names on this petition, they CAN NOT and WILL NOT question it.
Shirley, your eyes will forever live on in Love's Law - and just as we were there to try and locate you - your community will be there to tell your story and ensure this doesn't happen again. If this is just something small I can do - then I will start here and go bigger.
Rest in Peace Angel Eyes.
