Dear all:
Thank you very much for your support thus far. We have a little over 12,300 signatures. We are grateful for the support.
Losing our son, Aiden, is our worst experience. We are racked with inconsolable pain, a deep emptiness in our hearts. We did everything we could to protect our son.
- We taught him to look both ways before crossing the street; he did.
- We taught him to avoid any distractions when crossing the street; he did (his cell phone was in his pocket).
- We taught him to use the cross-walk; he did.
We never imagined that Aiden would be killed in this way. He had no chance against a speeding vehicle, driven by a reckless driver who was speeding around a blind curve, approaching a crosswalk. As we mourn our son's death, we're confronted with the reality that other pedestrians are at risk; other children must cross this busy street.
This petition calls for additional lighting along a dark stretch of road and a pedestrian-activated traffic light at an intersection that has a blind curve. We hope the city of Long Beach will consider our request for traffic safety.
Will you please help us get more support by sharing this petition with 10-12 other people? Here’s a link to share https://www.change.org/p/long-beach-city-council-members-aiden-our-son-was-killed-by-a-drunk-driver-protect-kids-w-traffic-light-enforcement
Aiden, we love you very much.
