Hi to all,
Please read this important news update.
I would like to remind you that I received an email from the leader of Waltham Forest Council, who is fully aware of the campaign to save the Hare and Hounds football ground. You can read more about it in a recent news update called " A response from the leader of Waltham Forest Council" dated on 17/04/2023, which is posted on the petition.
So far, nine-league football clubs and a sports charity have shown an interest in using the Hare and Hounds football ground. Also, a number of years ago, an attempt was made to crowdfund the Leyton stadium for West Ham united ladies FC (as they were called), but came out without success.
I would like to remind you that the Hare and Hounds football ground has a covenant that allows the land to be kept as a sports ground, as I have been told by the council.
At the end of the day, if an application is put in, then the final decision lies with Waltham Forest Council to give permission to the private owners to do their future redevelopment plans on the former Leyton FC football ground, and what they decide to do is out of your and my hands. All we have to do is to hope that the right decision is made to allow non-league football to return to the Hare and Hounds ground.
If you have a point of view that you want to raise with Waltham Forest Council regarding the former Leyton FC football ground, then may I kindly encourage you to contact Grace Williams, who is the leader of Waltham Forest Council, by sending an email to this address:
Cllr.Grace.Williams@walthamforest.gov.uk
You need to inform Councillor Williams that you want the Hare and Hounds site to remain as a local football ground for the local community there. Therefore, it is very important that the leader of Waltham Forest Council gets to hear your points of view on the future redevelopment plans for the former Leyton FC football ground.
Thank you
Nigel West
