Stop Barking and Dagenham council from implementing CPZ / parking controls on residential streets where parking is currently free and has no real issue. 

We are against the council wanting to take away free parking; replacing it with one that unfairly costs residents, reduces property value, adds inconvenience for visitors including family/friends and allows council to make financial gains from drivers/residents. 

Drivers are already paying too much in the capital with growing financial pressure on families and ordinary people. This idea will also do nothing to help maintain family relationships especially for the old and vulnerable.

- Residents should not have to pay to host their visitors. Why should families and friends be discouraged from visiting due to parking costs/ inconvenience. Whether its a 5min pop-in or stay for a few hours, residents shouldn't be made to pay to exercise their basic right. 

- Residents should not be penalised for others abusing free parking, council should not plan to charge residents (let alone base resident parking permits on car emissions).

Council needs to find other innovative ideas to stop those misusing free parking spaces and invest more on borough infrastructure before allowing/approving new developments which is increasing number of cars in the borough. 

- Those with a driveway/ drop kerb should continue to have freedom to park blocking their own driveway if they wish or allow for their visitors to do so without the need of a council issued permit 

- Those who currently have residents permit for their zone should be allowed to park in other zones for a reasonable amount of time, given they are residents in the borough who's movement should not be limited by CPZ zones. 

- Existing CPZ zones in the borough should be reviewed to apply above common sense measure to make this borough unique with its policies prioritising the benefit for the residents, those working in the borough, local small businesses and not focus on revenue generation or follow trends of current time such as the floored London Mayors ULEZ project.
