The issue

Logan City Council (LCC) planned to upgrade Wuraga Rd is designed through core koala habitat. Community consultation was sending land acquisition letters to residents LCC require land for the development. All other residents were ignored.

The plan will see motorists rat-running through Mt Warren Boulevard and Rochester Rd. Increased traffic volumes making school pick up and drop off challenging for Windaroo State School and daycare centres along Mt Warren Boulevard. Rochester Rd will be used as the main access point to the Pacific Motorway.

The upgrade to Wuraga road is designed through Wuruga Reserve. Our reserve is home to abundant flora and fauna. Wuruga Reserve has its own natural watercourse that feeds Windaroo Creek and on to the Albert River. Runoff from the planned road will produce pollutants which will destroy the Windaroo creek and impact the Albert River.

The fauna in Wuruga Reserve includes Koalas, Goannas, Echidnas, Possums and variety of Birds. The residents watch over and enjoy the wildlife. Its another council project not planned correct and land clearing which is devastating to wildlife.

Please support the Logan Residents say NO to LCC plan to destroy Koala Habitat and promote rat-running through residential areas.

The LCC planned upgrade to Wuraga Rd is inadequate and needs appropriate Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) before the council continues with the project.

Council should be required under legislation to advertise all road projects and give all resident the right to object to road projects.
