Save Logan Village Riding and Pony Club grounds

A recent development application (MCUI/2/2020) has been lodged with Logan City Council for a relocatable homes park on Quinzeh Creek Road and affecting Merv & Ollie Musch Park, the home of Logan Village Riding and Pony Club.

What this means for the club is actually not positive and we require your assistance to save the club as we know it.

The proposed plan includes the removal of a large amount of dirt from club grounds for use as fill on the developers site. What this means for us is they are taking a huge cut of dirt which also includes the wash bay and brand new yards (recently built from grant money and over $30k), half the car parking  area, round yard  and some of the Xcountry course. We will be left with a sloping unusable area, and  not enough car parking to run events. There has been no plan to rebuild wash bay or yards and we are unsure where exactly they would go anyway.

In return, the supposed benefit to the club is a toilet block which includes wheelchair friendly toilet and pavilion. The toilet block is proposed to be situated at the front fence (well away from our club house) and inside our grass competition arena. A toilet block in that location provides little benefit to the club. It is unfeasible to expect our para athletes to get all the way up there to go to the toilet, and also to far away for our many junior competitors to go without adult supervision, especially with the RSL only meters away. It will also impact on our ability to set up two dressage arenas in this area for competitions.

While there are other impacts to the club, including proposed concrete drain running down beside driveway and huge brick wall down the driveway boundary fence, the loss of yards, and car-parking is unfeasible.

Please help us let council and developers know this is unacceptable.
