Local Laws to follow the Animal Cruelty Act

Local Laws to follow the Animal Cruelty Act
The issue
Despite multiple reports to the RSPCA, the Ballarat veterinary practice, the Ballarat shelter, the Ballarat police and the Ballarat council, the dog was finally removed a severely neglectfuk and abusive home. Due to current local laws, the dog is ready to be returned by Monday the 3rd of May. The puppy has a happy healthy home with open arms available but the Ballarat council have their hands tied by the current local laws (the domestic animal act) and the only organisation with power to seize neglected animals is the RSPCA as they are able to work under the animal cruelty act.
Local governments need to be granted authority to work under the Animal Cruelty act in order to help all the animals that the RSPCA can’t or won’t reach. This petition isn’t just for this one puppy - it’s all the animals that are being neglected that aren’t getting the help and care they need from the RSPCA.
