Local Government Vet in Nhulunbuy for 2025

The issue

Our beloved town vet is leaving, and with her, a gaping hole in our community services. We are left without a crucial figure for our furry companions' health and wellbeing. With a town where nearly everybody has a pet, the impact can be significant and far-reaching.

The Year 8 students at Nhulunbuy High School are campaigning for the establishment of a government funded vet, treated with the same incentives received by other government workers. Not only will this ensure the constant presence of a medical aid for our pets, it will also uphold the quality of care provided by well-compensated and motivated personnel.

The students are also working on letters to our local council, government and the Corporation for them to hear our voice. We urge our local government to prioritise our pets' health in the same way it prioritises our own.

Please sign this petition to increase attention to this vital community concern. Please be kind in the comments, these are students wanting to make a positive action in our community. Thank you.
