Awesome News! We found out last night that AB:1145 also known as Tristin's Bill will be on consent this Monday (4/28/25) in the Transportation Committee.
This means that the Bill is for sure passing.....This Bill creates the evidence needed for future enforcement, not just here, but on similarly hazardous roads throughout California. This has been a long/hard process on our family, but it is long overdue and a necessary process. Caltrans will be required to conduct a detailed study and submit an annual report to the Legislature with findings and safety recommendations. Assemblyman Gonzalez has emphasized his commitment to returning in 2026 with a follow-up with legislation on the report findings. Specifically, the study will analyze the following:
- The number of fatal and non-fatal crashes over the past 10 years
- All 911 call related to tire blowouts and road conditions
- The number of citations issued for vehicle code violations on Hwy 74
- Number of injuries and fatalities on Hwy 74
- Mechanical issues contributing to crashes
- All of the following related Enforcement Facilities (bypass enforcement facilities; hot spots on the corridors, etc.
WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP - This is just the beginning to the safety improvements and we need to stay vigilant on reporting any dangers and or safety concerns on Palms to Pines Highway 74. This means if you see something that is dangerous call 911 immediately. Please don't contact the family and have them take care of it for you. This is where you come in to help and call it in to 911. Demand that you want CHP to put this information on their log report and that you are also aware of Tristin's Bill and they are required to do so. This could be for a Truck; Car; Bicyclists.
If you are able to get the following Business Name; DOT Number; License Number; Truck Number on front. If we do not make these necessary calls then we will not see the change on Hwy 74 that is so greatly needed. We know that the trucking industry serves as the backbone to our mountain communities and we need them. Right now we have inadequate enforcement on highway 74 and this is about saving lives.
Our family would like to take a little time to grieve and heal and we want to thank each and everyone of you who have signed the petition, wrote to our county officials; gave their testimonies, etc. The majority of our mountain communities has supported us and we could not have done this without you. You may not see us on Social Media as much. Please know that we are continuing the fight, but are taking a little bit of time to be with each other and heal.
