The final Topaz Community Outreach meeting was held virtually on August 30. The format of the meeting was changed from breakout groups to a town hall style meeting where all participants were allowed one minute to speak. This short amount of speaking time caused at least three Topaz survivors to be muted as they were talking. One camp survivor noted afterwards that it was reminiscent of the CWRIC hearings from the early 1980s when testimony was limited to five minutes before the person's microphone was turned off.
The Wakasa Memorial Committee will be holding their own community meeting on September 9th at JCCCNC in San Francisco. It will also be livestreamed starting at 2p HT / 5p PT / 8p ET.
