These have been very exciting weeks. Your voices have created a movement that has been heard. We are enthused to say that Indira Harris has made students safer, by ensuring that teachers found guilty of sexual misconduct have their licenses revoked. This is a partial victory for our petition and we congratulate this important commitment! We still need an extra push to address our concerns. The main reason our school had challenges in addressing sexual misconduct allegations, was the lack of a clear and comprehensive path to follow when allegations come forth. We believe this should be articulated in our legislation and communicated to all high schools across the province. For this to happen, our provincial government needs to define not just sexual abuse, but also sexual misconduct. We also need clear instructions and training for school staff regarding how to address student allegations. Candidates, we challenge you to commit to making this a priority for your upcoming government. We know you can do it! Let’s make students in Ontario safe at school. If you haven't done so yet, you can share our petition! Thank you so much for your support.
