Meatless Mondays at Penn State University Park

The Issue

With over 46,000 students on Penn State University Park campus, we have the ability to make a big impact on the world, and especially the environment. One way we can do this is by implementing meatless Mondays on campus to lessen our carbon footprint.

Many other large schools have implemented meatless Monday programs, such as Appalachian State University, Arizona State University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, Syracuse University, Temple University, University of Notre Dame, and Villanova University to name some.

Meatless Mondays does not necessarily mean that Penn State will not serve any meat on this day, but would rather be an opportunity to reduce our meat consumption by promoting plant-based options. This would serve as an opportunity to educate students on healthy options that do not have as great of a negative impact on the environment.
