Limit The Application of the VAT law for Private Education to New Enrolments
The Issue
My spouse and I are the proud parents of a brilliant daughter attending a private school not because of our affluence, but due to our commitment & hard work to provide her the best education. She earned this opportunity from her superb performance in a state primary school. There's a life she has built, friendships she's nurtured, and a sense of comfort she's derived from her current school. A law proposing VAT on private education threatens to jeopardize it all.
The law, as it stands, unfairly targets all students within the private education sector. It has been proposed under the pretext of fair taxation, but we believe it is essential to consider its practical impact. It's not merely a financial matter; it, in fact, risks the continuity and quality of education for existing students.
Far more equitable would be a law that applies only to parents enrolling their children in private schooling going forward. This approach would help maintain the already strained budgets of families with children currently in the system.
Our appeal isn't solely significant to us; it resonates with countless other parents sharing this arduous predicament. The real victims are our children, who, instead of focusing on their education, must grapple with abrupt changes and uncertainties in their schooling.
We, therefore, request a review and amendment of the new VAT law. Let this tax apply only to new registrants in the private education sector rather than disrupting the lives of students already enrolled. Link this tax to future private school enrolments. Allow already enrolled students to continue their education sans unnecessary financial pressure.
This is a plea for understanding, fairness, and truly thoughtful legislation. Sign this petition to help, not only to safeguard our children's futures but also to uphold a fair, considerate, and balanced taxation system.
