Limit reselling of Taylor Swift concert tickets

Limit reselling of Taylor Swift concert tickets
The Issue
When I was 11 years old, my mom and I tried so hard to buy tickets to see Taylor Swift live. But despite our excitement, we couldn't get them. Why? Because others were buying up to 30-40 tickets at once to resell them for higher prices. Since then, I've seen people go to multiple Taylor Swift concerts while others, like me, are left only with the dream of experiencing it once. It's unfair that dedicated fans lose out on seeing their favorite artist because of ticket hoarders and scalpers.
Concerts should be accessible to everyone, not just the privileged few who can afford inflated prices or those who are lucky enough to get tickets every time. The current system allows for unfair practices where people buy in bulk, monopolize tickets, and sell them at exorbitant rates, making it impossible for genuine fans to attend even a single concert.
Recent reports have shown that ticket scalping is a booming business, with some estimates suggesting that the secondary ticket market is worth billions. According to the National Consumers League, these unfair practices continue to harm genuine fans who simply want to enjoy a live performance without paying triple the ticket's original price.
I believe it’s time for change. We need regulations to limit the number of tickets any one person or entity can buy at once and harsher penalties for those caught reselling tickets at inflated prices. Implementing a ticket verification system where ID or a unique code is required for entry could also help prevent bulk purchasing by scalpers.
Artists, along with ticketing agencies, have the power to make concerts more fair and accessible. By putting mechanisms in place to limit scalping, they can ensure that all fans, not just the wealthy or fortunate, get a chance to enjoy these unforgettable experiences. A concert should be a memory cherished by all fans, not just a privilege for a fortunate few.
Join me in urging Taylor Swift, her management, and ticketing agencies to protect devoted fans by implementing these changes. Let's make concerts fair again, so that everyone, at least once in their lifetime, can sing along with their favorite artist. Please sign this petition and help make some dreams come true.
