Dear Supporters,
I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. As some of you may have heard, Nestle is supposedly looking to sell its North American bottled water companies. Just to be clear, this does not in any way change our mission and the goal of this petition; our work preserving Michigan water will not end anytime soon. We will continue to demand comprehensive legislation to protect Michigan water from unsustainable withdrawal. Nestle’s withdrawals are drying up Michigan creeks, and for the time being, we will continue to focus on the issue at hand.
Your continued commitment to preserving Michigan water has been making a difference, and is being heard by the state government and Nestle. If you have not called or emailed the government offices yet, please do (see below); it is not too late! As always continue to spread the word about this petition. Every signature counts!
Sincerely,
Yousef
Suggested talking points:
I am calling/emailing as one of nearly 160,000 concerned individuals who oppose the proposal for decision issued by Judge Pulter to uphold Nestle’s permit to withdraw 400 gallons per minute of water from White Pine Springs well PW-101 in Evart, MI. Nestle’s pumping practices are unsustainable and threaten to destroy the surrounding wetland environment, break the trust of local inhabitants, and provide very little economic benefit to the state. We urge you to make the decision that is in the best interest of all Michiganders and reverse the approval of Nestle’s permit application. Help us to protect our most valuable resource for all to enjoy.
