Mt Martha North Beach Users: Calling on the Victorian Gov to use Federal funds wisely

To all Mt Martha North Beach Users:

Fixing our beach has been a long and challenging road which has now stretched for nearly 15 years. Numerous coastal engineering studies and countless stakeholder meetings have slowed real action to save the beach and the habitat highway of coastal scrub behind it.

The federal government pledged $1.5 million to secure the beach's future at the most recent federal election.

The state government does not wish to construct an engineered solution, opting only to support temporary sand renourishment. This was trialled unsuccessfully in 2010.

We, the users of Mt Martha North Beach, and the Mt Martha North Beach Group call upon the state government to use the funds provided by the federal government to provide a permanent solution in the form of sand renourishment AND an engineering solution (such as a groyne) to protect our beach for future generations.
