The Issue

Recently, the former administration has banned Coach Black from campus, citing what is believed to be misinformation and misunderstanding of his genuine intentions and practices. The decision, made without proper due diligence or input from both parents and students who know him best, has deprived this school of one of its brightest guiding stars.

Athletics became a sanctuary, and it was Coach Black who had a major hand in making it possible. He believed in every one of the student athletes, and even a few students not involved in sports, not just as athletes but as individuals who could make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. His ability to nurture talents and guide young people through their personal challenges makes him an integral part of the community.

Fact: With Coach Black’s influence, our school's sports teams have seen winning seasons, growth in interest and character development, since the moment he walked on campus — a feat unprecedented in the school’s history. More importantly, the life lessons learned under his mentorship, which focus on integrity, accountability, and mutual respect, have sculpted countless futures.

The student-athletes he mentored have been saved from harm with his guidance, been safely delivered back home to families daily at the parents requests and permissions, and even transported a few to their first college experiences. His impact is bigger than the football field or track.

Coach Black’s commitment to excellence has also managed to cut down school absenteeism and tardiness rates among student athletes. Along with mental health discussions and support offer a safe space for those in need of guidance and support.

Despite this and more overwhelming evidence of his positive influence, the decision to ban him is being upheld without transparent re-evaluation. This abrupt action sends the wrong message to the very students who looked up to him as a beacon of hope and resilience. It undermines not only the values he taught, but also the trust his students have built over years.

Its proposed a reevaluation of the circumstances under which the ban was issued is necessary. We call on the board of directors, principal and athletic director to review his reinstatement, consisting of administrators, teachers, parents, and students to ensure a well-rounded and unbiased assessment.

This is not just about lifting an unjust ban; it’s about recognizing the irreplaceable role of a mentor who has given so much. Please sign this petition to show your support for Coach Black and ensure future generations can benefit from his wisdom and unwavering support.
