ELIMINATE HAZARDOUS E-MISSIONS ENTERING OZONE THAT ARE AVOIDABLE AND UNNECESSARY IN OREGON

The Issue

If 3000 cans and bottles can fit into a truck, one trip to BottleDrop is all that is needed to recycle the 3000 empty beverage containers. When a 350 daily limit is enforced at the one and only full service facility in the county, the person with one truckload of 3000 cans will have to make 9 trips to BottleDrop. With recycling facilities being so few and far between a person is more likely to accumulate large numbers of recyclables and may have to travel several miles to turn in bottles and cans. This adds unnecessary harmful e-missions into our air and contributes to environmental harm and illness that over weigh the benefits of keeping cans and bottles out of the landfills. It also creates a hassle for some individuals so much so they choose to throw away their empties rather than recycle. Gas prices are on the rise and it is economically senseless spending 9X the amount of gas and inflicting 9X more pollution when we don't have to. The ultimate goal of Oregon's bottle bill should be improving the quality in which we treat our environment and the limit contradicts these efforts.

The new modernization act holds manufacturers and producers responsible for the entire life span of their product and requires a certain percentage of material to be made from recycled products. Large fines are implemented if they don't meet the new criteria, meaning even large companies need recycled material back quicker. It only makes sense to LIFT THE 350 DAILY CAN & BOTTLE LIMIT AT BOTTLEDROP LOCATIONS.

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS IN ELIMINATING LIMITED RECYCLING!

Lacey CastleberryPetition StarterHighly appreciative of mother Earth's beauty and wonder. Advocate for bottle bills but against senseless rules and limits. I believe recycling should be made easy, this inspired me to form an at home bottle and can redemption service.
