The undersigned American citizens and various other nationalities are calling on the American Administration, The European Union, United Nations, the World Health Organization, and all other nations participating in the sanctions against Syria, to immediately ending the economic blockade and sanctions on Syrian, and immediately provide economic and medical aid for the Syrian People.
The earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey earlier this month left tens of thousands dead, injured and hundreds of thousands homeless. The sanctions caused global aid organizations struggling to transfer needed supplies, money or medicine across the border to Syria due to American sanctions.
Food, drinking water, energy supplies safe accommodation, medical supplies, and many more to mention are either not available or extremely expensive. Syrian People are being deprived of their basic needs.
The so called “Economic Sanctions against Syrian Government” is a method of collective punishment on the entire Syrian people, and such punishments has proven ineffective, unfair and crime against humanity as it is targeting civilians. Civilians including children in the aftermath of the earthquake in these areas are more vulnerable to disease, hunger and death. It has been reported that Cholera has been already spreading amongst the displaced people who are living in unsanitary conditions.
Unless humanitarian assistance is delivered promptly and on regular basis to all besieged and hard-to-reach areas of Syria, malnutrition levels will continue to increase, and more lives will be lost. We demand lifting all forms of blockade and sanctions, providing all forms of support and assistance, whether economic, food, medical, and the necessary tools needed to remove the rubble and rebuild.  

The continuation of unjustified sanctions specifically in post-earthquake conditions to achieve political goals is a crime against humanity.
The TEMPORARY LIFT OF SANCTIONS FOR 180 DAYS by the US Administration, allowing limited deliveries of humanitarian supplies are NOT enough. The immediate lifting of SANCTIONS on Syria is demanded. Followed by assessments of health and other needs of the effected population are needed to lessen the continued loss of lives.
It is not about politics anymore; it is about a nation survival. Maintaining the sanctions is a clear crime against humanity. Permanent Lifting of sanctions is the only hope for Syrians to deal with this tragic and once in a lifetime magnitude earthquake, and to find a way to rebuild their country.

أرفعو الحصار عن سوريا: أستمرار العقوبات الأميركية جريمة ضد الإنسانية

 نحن الموقعون ادناه من ابناء الشعب العربي ومن مختلف الدول العربية نطالب الإدارة الأمريكية والاتحاد الأوروبي والأمم المتحدة ومنظمة الصحة العالمية وجميع الدول الأخرى المشاركة في العقوبات المفروضة على الجمهورية العربية السورية بالإنهاء الفوري للحصار الاقتصادي والعقوبات و تقديم مساعدات اقتصادية وطبية فورية للشعب السوري.

لقد خلف الزلزال الذي ضرب سوريا وتركيا في وقت سابق من هذا الشهر عشرات الآلاف من القتلى والجرحى ومئات الآلاف من المشردين. وقد تسببت العقوبات في معاناة منظمات الإغاثة العالمية لنقل الإمدادات أو الأموال أو الأدوية اللازمة عبر الحدود إلى سوريا بسبب العقوبات الأمريكية.

ان الطعام ومياه الشرب وإمدادات الطاقة وأماكن الإقامة الآمنة والإمدادات الطبية وغيرها من متطلبات الحياة إما غير متوفرة أو باهظة الثمن. السوريون محرومون من احتياجاتهم الأساسية بسبب ما يسمى ب "العقوبات الاقتصادية ضد الحكومة السورية". لقد ثبت ان مثل هذه العقوبات هو أسلوب للعقاب الجماعي على الشعب السوري بأسره ، وقد ثبت أن هذه العقوبات غير فعالة وغير عادلة وجريمة ضد الإنسانية لأنها تستهدف المدنيين بمن فيهم الأطفال والمرضى وكبار السن.

وقد بات الشعب السوري في أعقاب الزلزال أكثر عرضة للأمراض والجوع والموت. وفعليا تم الإبلاغ عن انتشار الكوليرا بين النازحين الذين يعيشون في ظروف غير صحية.

 ما لم يتم إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية على وجه السرعة وبشكل منتظم إلى جميع المناطق المحاصرة والتي يصعب الوصول إليها في سوريا فسوف تستمر مستويات سوء التغذية في الازدياد وستفقد المزيد من الأرواح. نطالب برفع كل أشكال الحصار والعقوبات ، وتقديم كافة أشكال الدعم والمساعدات سواء الاقتصادية والغذائية والطبية ، والأدوات اللازمة لإزالة الأنقاض وإعادة الإعمار.

إن استمرار العقوبات غير المبررة تحديدا في ظروف ما بعد الزلزال لتحقيق أهداف سياسية يعد جريمة ضد الإنسانية.

 إن الرفع المؤقت للعقوبات لمدة 180 يومًا من قبل الإدارة الأمريكية والسماح بتسليم كميات محدودة من الإمدادات الإنسانية لا يكفي والمطلوب هو الرفع الفوري للعقوبات المفروضة على سوريا على ان يلي ذلك تقييم للوضع الصحي والغذائي والانساني والاحتياجات الأخرى للسكان المتضررين هناك لتقليل الخسائر المستمرة في الأرواح.

 لم يعد الأمر يتعلق بالسياسة. إنه يتعلق ببقاء شعب عربي على قيد الحياة.  

إن الإبقاء على العقوبات جريمة واضحة ضد الإنسانية وإن الرفع الدائم للعقوبات هو الأمل الوحيد للسوريين للتعامل مع النتائج المأساوية للزلزال ولتمكينهم من إعادة بناء بلدهم.

اوقفوا الجريمة المستمرة ضد الشعب السوري بالرفع الفوري الدائم والكامل للحصار والألغاء الفوري لجميع اشكال العقوبات.
