Dear Friends of Sea-Eye,
The SEA-EYE 4 is back in action! Our rescue ship left the Spanish port of Burriana on Monday for a new mission in the central Mediterranean.
As the SEA-EYE 4 makes its way towards the search and rescue zone, the political debate in Europe is bogged down in a race to the bottom of tightening asylum laws. In doing so, politics creates a threat to the fundamental rights of people seeking protection. People's lives and dignity are not being put at the centre of policy.
We call on European governments, and the German government in particular, to put human rights and the resulting humanitarian obligations back at the centre of all political considerations instead of promoting isolation and exclusion!
At such times, our humanitarian commitment is more important than ever. We are about to send our new all-weather lifeboat SEA-EYE 5 on its first mission. Become a ship sponsor today and ensure its long-term, life-saving operation.
Best wishes
Gorden Isler
