Dear friends of Sea-Eye,

while the European Union and the German government are pushing for the end of refugee protection in Europe, we are finally back on mission!

The SEA-EYE 4 left Burriana on Friday evening for the second rescue mission in 2023 towards the Central Mediterranean. There, the rescue ship is urgently needed, because this year alone, more than 1,000 people have already died in their search for protection.

At the same time, a planned reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) is being discussed in Europe, which is tantamount to a de facto withdrawal from refugee protection in the European Union. The German government has also signaled its support for the reform. Together with over 50 other civil society organizations, Sea-Eye e.V. has issued an appeal to the German government, in which the alliance calls on the coalition, and specifically Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD), to live up to their humanitarian responsibility and keep key promises made in their coalition agreement.

The current debate shows once again how important civil society is. Because only together can we oppose the inhuman foreclosure logic.

Help us now to secure the coming missions as well. With your permanent donation you also give us the necessary planning security to finance our rescue missions in the long term.
