Dear friends of Sea-Eye,

at the beginning of the week we were able to bring 105 people in Naples to a safe place. At the same time, we mourn the three lives lost. And now we face a major technical challenge: the shipyard.

On 06.02.2023 the SEA-EYE 4 reached the port of Naples with 105 rescued persons as well as two dead bodies on board. There, all 105 survivors could safely go ashore, and the dead were also taken off the ship.

It was the end of one of the most difficult missions in our organizational history. In total, there were three deaths! During the night from Thursday to Friday, the crew of SEA-EYE 4 conducted two rescue missions. Two people could only be recovered dead. Another person died after an emergency evacuation on Sunday in a hospital in Messina. Earlier, another person had to be evacuated from aboard the SEA-EYE 4. Among the deceased is a young mother whose baby survived.

The SEA-EYE 4 is currently still in the port of Naples, from where it will make its way to Burriana at the next possible opportunity. There the ship will go into dry dock for a scheduled maintenance interval.

In order to be able to carry out all the necessary work and to be able to start operations again as soon as possible, we need your help: With your donation you will make the SEA-EYE 4 ready for the next missions!

Yours, Gorden Isler
- Chairman of Sea-Eye e. V.
