Dear friends of Sea-Eye,

today marks an important day for us! Alpha Jor Barry christened our new rescue ship, which will be called SEA-EYE 4. Alpha was rescued from a small wooden boat on the first ALAN KURDI mission a few days after Christmas in 2018. We were very lucky to find Alpha between two storms on the high seas.

Alpha is living proof of what we would lose if we gave up and sea rescue in the central Mediterranean came to a complete standstill,” said Jan Ribbeck, board member of Sea-Eye, at the baptism of the SEA-EYE 4.

Our spokeswoman Sophie was there when Alpha was rescued. She is recalling the days aboard for us and wrote down what she experienced. Read Alpha's story here.

To finally be able to christen our new rescue ship was very moving for all of us. In her opening speech, Vice President of the Bundestag and Sea-Eye member Claudia Roth spoke of a great day for human rights. Due to Corona, the baptism of the ship could only be carried out in a small group. We have summarized the highlights for you in a video.

We would like to send the SEA-EYE 4 into operation as soon as possible. Please support us with a donation so that the shipyard work can be completed promptly. Donate now!

Stay healthy!

Yours, Gorden Isler
- Chairman of Sea-Eye e. V.
