Remove DamonPS2 Emulator Studio's PS2 Emulator from the Play Store!
The Issue
Dear Google...
This app "DamonPS2 Emulator" should not be in the Google Play Store in the first place, because:
- You can't even play this app without getting annoyed by too much ads. From opening to playing after a few minutes you are required to watch some ads. Bombarding the app with zillions of advertisements only serves the advertisers more ad revenue.
"One of the worst emulators you can find. Everything is locked by the paywall cause the developers are too greedy, too many ads (you need to watch ads to verify the app? Are you ridiculous?)" - The Reaperizer
"Game runs, sure. But the process it takes to get to play the game is ridiculous. Click anything and it's an ad. Boot up, ad. Scan for games, ad. Start game, ad. Return to game, ad. And you're really gonna have it cost Coins just to play games..." - Chee Thao
"Everything (on this offending app) requires an ad. Want to use a controller? Ad. Wanna turn the screen orientation? Ad. They need to "chill" with the ads. It's super annoying! I purchased the pro version—which states "Lifetime" and then the next moment—I don't have it all of a sudden!" — スライアチン - Requiring the user to buy in-house credits is outrageous. Not only that, it does that once every so often. What a disgrace. When the user paid the app (that he/she already bought) to play a game, the emulator was a lag-fest, after five minutes into playing it tells the user that he/she needs to pay again to continue to play because he/she accidentally clicked off the game. This is probably the worst app I have ever downloaded. It's a money hoarding app by lazy developers with zero marketing experience..." - raeedx ahmed
- Having the phone to be online for the emulator to work is bullshit.
"Absolute trash. Dont do it. Between the neverending ads and REQUIRED online, waste of money." — Calil West
This app is a total scam.
I have downloaded it once, and I could not even get my favorite game of Formula 1 2006 running on my Android smartphone, all because of those useless ads, and the so-called "in-house-tokens", and the useless requirement for the device to be always online. This is absurd. For example, to run a game you need to have two coins, otherwise the emulator would refuse to load the game. Not to mention, it's also filled with tons of ads.
Despite not being free, the performance leaves a lot to be desired and only few games run correctly.
It uses PCSX2's core, a free emulator for PC, meaning that they are making money off of someone else's work.
The emulator contains a core for PPSSPP, a freeware PSP emulator for PC and mobile platforms, despite not belonging to the developers. This makes owning the emulator borderline illegal!
It asks for unnecessary app permissions such as asking for your location and your contacts. That's a violation to our privacy, to sell these for ads!
All the devs at Damon PS2 Emulator Studios always think of, is money, money, and even more money (like Mr. Eugene Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants).
Google, please, I beg you, do us users a favor! Banish this money-making app off the Google Play Store, and ban Damon PS2 Emulator Studios from making such apps that cheat and extort money for the user to play a game for entertainment! They are cheating on us users, a large wad of money on this buggy, ad-stricken "emulator" that demands a payment once every so often!
