Conclusion

Thank you to everyone who signed the petition. I recently met with the owner of St Johns and discussed the situation and a way forward. The owner stated that he was in the process of forming a trust in order to gain funding to bring the church back into use as a place of worship. However funds for further remedial work where sparse having additionally procured the Brighton Hotel and Kings Arms. I have offered assistance to the owner on several matters including a work party to maintain the ground however this is dependant on a number of factors and whether those in the community would continue to offer voluntary help in light of the situation. I have also for fairness to those who signed the petition submitted it to the council for presentation at the extraordinary meeting today at 6pm and have made a number of councillors and officials aware of the situation. Moving forward there is no legal president to protect the building other than holding the owner to account using the support of the council and local residents to ensure that no further decay comes to the building.
