Dear all - a couple of updates!

Machinery has now been parked near the tree which is used to lift cars out of the way. Our brave tree protectors remain in place defending her.

In more positive news we heard recently about a tree in Bristol that was saved from destruction using a new resin based technique which effectively enables houses to be underpinned without the disruption - treatment can be completed in a day. Crucially, in this case, the homeowner insurers paid for the work: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-63731821

We have been in contact with the company, Geobear https://www.geobear.co.uk/bbc-news-cover-geobear/ who are keen to share their experience and expertise with Lewisham Council. They have contacted them, we have contacted them and so far we have been completely ignored!

That's right - Lewisham Council, which professes to want to do everything in its power to save this tree, even when offered this opportunity on a plate, simply will not engage. This, along with a persistent refusal to share documentation of the surveys which purportedly show this tree is causing the problem, plus false claims that they alone have funded and coordinated "replacement trees" (no such thing) - is certainly starting to make us question just how committed to looking after trees they are.

And makes us wonder - do they really understand the gravity of the climate catastrophe which we are hurtling towards? If they did, surely they would act.

Please consider writing to Louise Krupski, Vince Buchanan, and Damien Egan again - this time please also copy in James Lee - director of culture and community development.

Please ask them to engage with this new potential method of maintaining the safety of the house, which was funded by the homeowner insurance in the Bristol case - feel free to send them the BBC article, and please ask them again to be more transparent with us regarding demonstration of the tree as an issue - what are they hiding if they're not willing for us to see these?
