The Issue

Millions of people with disabilities play video games, but there is not enough attention from one of the world’s largest stages for adaptive competition: the Paralympic Games.

Across the globe, players with disabilities are competing at high levels using adaptive equipment, custom controllers, and innovative technology. The competition is real. The athletes are ready. The world just hasn’t caught up yet.

The Paralympic Games have long been a symbol of inclusion, excellence, and human potential. But as technology evolves, so must the definition of sport.

Esports is now a global competitive platform but without formal recognition in the Paralympic movement, gamers with disabilities are left without access to the same pathways, visibility, and legitimacy as traditional athletes.

Adapted esports:

-Removes physical barriers that limit participation in traditional sports
-Creates opportunities for people with a wide range of disabilities
-Connects athletes across countries, cultures, and economic backgrounds
-Represents one of the most accessible forms of global competition ever created

For many individuals with disabilities, esports is not just a game it is their sport.

We are calling on the International Paralympic Committee to:

-Recognize adapted esports as an official Paralympic sport pathway
-Partner with global leaders to establish rules, classifications, and competition standards
-Work toward inclusion in upcoming Paralympic Games, including Los Angeles 2028 and beyond
