Letter to Bishop Michael Olsen on behalf of the parishioners of St. Michael churChurchc
The Issue
Dear Most Reverend Bishop Olson:
As loving people of St Michael Parish and faithful members of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth under your guidance, concerned for the future spiritual growth and financially prudent administration of our parish, we make this following petition:
Whereas, we the people of St. Michael want to express our deep gratitude for the pastoral guidance we have enjoyed with Fr. Vijaya Mareedu and our profound sense of loss resulting from the news of his reassignment, we are united in our prayers of love and support for his future growth and well-being, and
Whereas, we are troubled and hurt by the divisiveness and administrative disfunction that has erupted between our pastor and staff, fueled by rumored allegations and uncooperative behavior from certain staff members, and
Whereas, our parish is operating at significant monthly deficits for the last 2 years with no immediate plan to mitigate these losses, and our parishioners are frustrated with the level of service provided by staff, and the resistance to (dismissal of) local lay input, which we believe has in turn led to real spiritual and psychological suffering on the part of our parish and the loss of parishioners.
Now therefore, in light of the foregoing, we humbly and prayerfully request:
A town hall meeting for the St. Michael community led by your Excellency to provide your guidance and mediation on the proper parochial order and appropriate staff behavior regarding pastor and the administration of service to parishioners; and
The initiation of third party audits of the financial management and administrative operations of each of the departments of St Michael’s with regards to established policies and procedures,
The guidance and plans of your Excellency for the restoration of financial accountability, sustainability and transparency to the parish.
Signed,
