The Issue

The recent proposal to eliminate the A and B day schedule in PCTI STEM school is causing significant concern for us students and our parents. The current schedule allows us the ability to explore a variety of electives, diversifying and generating a broader skill development. Switching to a nine-period-day every day would insanly reduce our current opportunity and limit our exposure to only core subjects.

The A and B day schedule is better for many reasons. First of all, it gives us more time for each class every day, allowing us to focus better and actually dig deeper into every on of our lessons but also significantly reducing the amount of workload placed on us for the next day every day. Not only that but it allows us 2 extra course slots to take more electives and get more credits and just benefit us all in the long run. And if that isn't reason enough to keep our A and B days, with a lighter work load every day we get more time to relax after school, spend time with family, hang out with friends, foster interpersonal relationships online. And if you are a student-athlete or a high achieving student and are involved with sports, clubs, leadership programs, volunteer work, and so much more, A and B days allow you so much more time to dedicate to all that personal development! I'm sure many of you can attest to this.

The new schedule change would also negatively impact teachers, who would have to adjust their curriculum and pace as well as reduce the amount of one-on-one interaction time with their students.

We need what it takes to convince the PCTVS Board of Education to reconsider this decision. It's important to most of us to keep a schedule that accommodates a wide variety of subjects and let's us flourish in both our academic and extracurricular pursuits. Keeping our schedule is crucial

Join us in advocating for our needs and speaking up for the retention of our current schedule. Sign the petition to help keep the great opportunities that we are well worthy of.
