Let Salt Lake City Fly the Pride Flag

Let Salt Lake City Fly the Pride Flag
The Issue
Utah passed a law banning Pride, Trans, and Juneteenth flags from flying on public buildings like schools and city offices. But Salt Lake City fought back — and found a smart way to keep flying them by creating city versions of the flags.
Now, instead of standing up for anyone, Governor Spencer Cox is calling the whole thing “dumb.” The flags. The bill. The people trying to be seen. He didn’t stop the ban. He just stood by and let it happen.
These flags aren’t “dumb.” They’re a lifeline. They show LGBTQ+ people, Black Utahns, and so many others that they matter. Taking them down sends a message that they don’t belong.
This law is about power and control. It’s about silencing people who already face enough. And it doesn’t just hurt Salt Lake — it hurts cities across Utah who want to fly these flags too but now can’t.
We demand better. Repeal this harmful law. Let local communities choose the flags that reflect their people and their values. Let Salt Lake City, and every city, fly the Pride flag proudly.
Add your name if you believe visibility saves lives. Because it does.
