This petition is against abolishing, disbanding and defunding police in Minneapolis and in other cities. City councils must be held accountable for such irrational decisions against public safety.

When emotions drive decisions it is never good.  

The data used in the following statistical study are comprised of observations on a panel of 51 U.S. states covering the period from 1970 to 2000. They find a strong evidence of negative correlation between the number of officers and crimes. Minneapolis is #20 on the list of most dangerous cities in America. Do we really think defunding police is the way to solve this problem? Let's just be honest with ourselves. Can anyone imagine the reaction I would have received three months ago if I had posted a comment on social media stating that I wanted police to be defunded?

If we defund police, who’s going to respond to the armed robberies? Are you going to have the community doing that? Social workers? Who’s going to do the criminal investigations if you have a homicide? Who’s going to have access to the information that might be publicly unavailable?

Several cities in the US have already slashed police funds, and, with absolutely zero changes for better. The opposite is true.  Such actions have only invited more crime and endangered more communities. 

We support all those brave women and men who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect us all. Restricting their abilities to handle crime is not going to lower crime in our cities. Those who want to commit crimes DO NOT CARE about anyone's skin color. They only care about themselves. And the less they will be afraid, the more we all will suffer, including those who want police to be defunded now. If we do not have law and order, violence will take over, spill over to other cities, and destroy communities. Those who want to commit crimes will continue to steal from us, sell drugs to our kids, rape our daughters, kill our loved ones, and it will only get worse.
