Erik Paulsen is an American politician who served as a U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 3rd congressional district from 2009 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, Paulsen was known for his conservative stance on several key issues including taxation and healthcare. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1995 to 2009, becoming Majority Leader in 2003. He is a graduate of St. Olaf College, where he earned a degree in mathematics.
