Let's make Halloween a weekend holiday.

The Issue

Halloween, a cherished tradition that sees children and adults alike dressing up and participating in various festivities, currently falls on the fixed date of October 31st. This date is arbitrary and could potentially deprive children of fully enjoying the holiday due to school night restrictions. We propose to change the date of Halloween to always fall on either the third or fourth Friday of October. This change allows kids to stay up later, engaging more fully in trick-or-treating, parties, and other celebrations associated with Halloween without worrying about school the next day. Moreover, parents and adults can also benefit from this adjustment, enabling all parties to happen organically over the weekend. Considering that an estimated 69% of Canadians plan to celebrate Halloween (according to the National Retail Federation's annual survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics), this proposed change would significantly enhance the holiday experience for many. We urge authorities to seriously consider our request for a more inclusive and enjoyable All Hallows' Eve. Sign this petition to lend your support to always having Halloween on a weekend.
