We respectfully request that the City of Los Angeles honor the extraordinary legacy of rock 'n' roll music recorded in LA by designating the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue "Satisfaction Square." This commemoration would recognize the remarkable contributions to popular culture made by the many recording studios in the area and it would permanently enshrine their vital connection to our community. This location was chosen because it stands as the site of the historic RCA studio where the Rolling Stones recorded "Satisfaction" and many other chart-topping tunes. This space also produced hit records for Elvis and numerous rock 'n' roll pioneers. Additionally, a prominent marker would celebrate other acclaimed studios in the region where enduring songs were created, including Capitol Records, Sunset Sound, United Recording, Sound City, and the Village Recorder, who are all still producing tunes today.

It's perplexing that Los Angeles, a city that has long embraced its status as the world's entertainment capital, doesn't recognize and highlight its immense global footprint. Similar initiatives for lesser causes have succeeded in enhancing our pride and deepening the city's identity. Designating this street "Satisfaction Square" would provide a well-deserved tribute to the tireless artists, producers, arrangers and engineers whose compelling works elevated millions of people from all over the globe, some of whom could never visit LA. It would also help future generations understand the foundational role LA played in rock 'n' roll's origin story.

Therefore, we respectfully ask the City of Los Angeles, the LA City Council, by and through its local representative, the Hon. Hugo Soto-Martinez, and the appropriate municipal departments to officially designate the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue "Satisfaction Square."

We understand the City has established procedures for honorary street designations. We ask the City to review this proposal through the appropriate process and consider the ever-growing support demonstrated by this petition.
