Hold CSU's Chancellor Joseph I. Castro ACCOUNTABLE!

The Issue

Time and time again, we have failed to protect those on our college campuses. Whether it'd be ignoring the victims, or simply calling them a liar, sexual assault cases have been neglected for far too long.

The current Chancellor for the California State University school system, Joseph I. Castro, is guilty of this. He has not only allowed for sexual predators to remain as high-level administrators but covered for them in order to avoid scandals. Frank Lamas, who's had numerous sexual misconduct allegations made against him (supported by documentable evidence), was not punished for any of his crimes. When he touched students inappropriately, he was let go with little more than a slap on the wrist. Instead of firing Lamas, a window was installed into his office so that he would not be alone with students. And when a staff member spoke up about his unwanted sexual advances, he was given a sum of $250,000 and an outstanding letter of recommendation.

Is this the precedent we want to leave for future sexual assault cases?

Is this what we want to tell victims? That their traumatic experiences are little more than jokes, that no one cares?

Is this the man we want to lead the 4th largest public university system in the entire nation?

I would surely hope not. Please sign this petition so that we may hold Joseph Castro accountable for trying to hide sexual assault cases instead of bringing the perpetrator to justice.

Remember that sexual assault can happen to anyone. It can span from hours to just a couple of seconds. Our only hope in combatting this is to hold all guilty parties accountable.

Because silence is compliance.
