Let Residents Have Pools: STOP the False Advertising!

Let Residents Have Pools: STOP the False Advertising!
The Issue
We, the residents of Colonial Oaks Mobile Home Park, are writing to formally request that YES Communities revisit and revise its policies regarding the use of above-ground pools within our community. Additionally, we are requesting an acknowledgment and resolution regarding misleading advertising that claimed Colonial Oaks had a community pool available for resident use.
When many of us chose to move into Colonial Oaks, promotional materials, online listings, and/or leasing discussions indicated that the community included access to a swimming pool. This amenity was a deciding factor for several families, particularly those with children or medical needs for water therapy and cooling relief in hot months. To date, no such pool exists or has been made available to residents, resulting in feelings of frustration, mistrust, and disappointment.
In light of the absence of a community pool, we respectfully request that residents be permitted to install small, safe, and regulated above-ground pools on their lots, especially during the summer season. These pools would provide:
- Safe recreation for children and families
- Cooling relief during extreme temperatures
- Increased quality of life and resident satisfaction
We are willing to comply with reasonable safety, size, and placement guidelines to ensure that above-ground pools do not interfere with neighboring lots, community appearance, or property infrastructure.
We formally ask YES Communities and Colonial Oaks Management to:
- Acknowledge the discrepancy between advertised amenities and actual offerings
- Update promotional materials to reflect current conditions
- Permit the use of above-ground pools with agreed-upon guidelines
We believe this request is both fair and achievable, and reflects the real needs of families in our community. We are hopeful that management will partner with us in good faith to improve transparency, trust, and livability at Colonial Oaks.
Sincerely,
The Residents of Colonial Oaks Mobile Home Park
