In August 2024 Jay Littleton Ball Park burnt down. After a two year delay, and in the lead up to a mayoral election, the City Council brought forward the matter of what would happen to the Jay Littleton Ball Park. It was suggested a rebuild could cost in excess of $100 million. A baseball themed splash pad was listed amongst alternative uses for the land. 

The City has an obligation to both preserve historic locations and ensure they remain places new generations can form memories.

This petition is updated to reflect the input of the community at a meeting hosted by Fair Ontario on Feb 23 and the group agrees on these shared demands to the City Council: 

1. They hire an outside consultant to outline the array of possibilities for the future of the space
2. They allocate staff resources to soliciting community feedback in a number of ways in multiple languages
3. They gather local histories and allocate staff to creating an onsite education and cultural component
4. They create proactive plans to protect other unique heritage sites in Ontario like Guasti so we don’t lose them to neglect too
