We did it!
Thanks to the courage of McBride students, the determination of families, and the support of over 2,500 petition signers, the school has officially reversed course and will hold a traditional, seated graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025!
Students will now be able to:
✔️ Walk in as a class
✔️ Sit together
✔️ Receive their diplomas on stage at the end
✔️ Celebrate this milestone with dignity and pride, surrounded by both family and friends
This is proof that using your voice matters. That students advocating for themselves is powerful. And that when a community stands together, change is possible.
To every single person who signed, shared, emailed, showed up, and refused to stay silent: thank you. You made this happen.
Let this be a reminder to all of us — speak up, even when it feels like no one is listening. Speak up, even when you’re told not to. Speak up, especially when it’s hard.
We’re incredibly proud of the McBride Class of 2025. You showed leadership before you even crossed the stage.
Below is the exact message sent this morning at 11 AM confirming the change:

McBride Graduation Ceremony Update
"Dear McBride Families,
Thank you for your continued engagement and feedback as we prepare to celebrate the Class of 2025. We have heard from many of you regarding the timing of when graduates are individually recognized during the ceremony. Your input is deeply valued, and we want you to know that we're listening.
We will be recognizing students by name at the end of the ceremony. This adjustment reflects the preference expressed by many in our school community and is intended to ensure the event feels as meaningful and celebratory as possible.
All other details of the ceremony remain the same. Gates will open at 3:30 p.m., and we kindly ask all families to arrive on time so we can begin our celebration promptly at 5:00 p.m. This is a special moment for our students, and your presence and support make it even more memorable.
We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2025 together with pride, joy, and unity.
With gratitude,
The McBride Graduation Committee"
