Many of you have probably seen the older gentleman who sells pecans, watermelons, peaches, and other produce, as well as the lady who sells homemade bread, at the corner of 51st Street & Highway 97 in Prattville. They’ve recently been told they can no longer sell there, along with other local vendors. For many of these vendors, this is an important source of income and a way to support themselves and their families. This petition is a respectful request for the City of Sand Springs to take these signatures into CONSIDERATION. We understand that the city has a responsibility to protect public safety, and we are not asking for legal action or demanding that laws be ignored. We are simply asking city leaders to consider whether there is a safe and reasonable way for local roadside vendors to continue operating. We believe there may be solutions that balance safety with the opportunity for small vendors to earn an honest living. We hope the city will listen to the voices of the people who live in and care about this community. This petition is not about just one person—it is about supporting all local roadside vendors who have become a familiar part of our community. Many residents enjoy stopping to buy fresh produce, pecans, bread, and other local goods. Supporting these vendors also supports hardworking individuals and families who rely on these sales. We believe there is value in preserving opportunities for local vendors while keeping the area safe for everyone.
