Word has it that the live action reboot of Bambi might've officially been cancelled, which comes from what went on with it's director along with other things from Disney in the 2020s:

The director was not Jon Favreau, but he should consider picking up on the film, seeing how well things had done with his live action reboots of The Jungle Book and The Lion King, though whatever he's been up to following 2019 remains a mystery. All Walt Disney Animation Studios films from prior to 2006 that would work out in live action should be given a live action reboot, and this of course includes Bambi as what is currently the only film from prior to the era of package films that's currently without one, shame that due to what's been going on lately, it won't release in time for my own relatives who were around at the time of the 1942 original's release to see it. Though it should still release before the 1942 original goes public domain, to which point it'll be something to prefer over that horror film from recently which exists thanks to the book it was adapted from going public domain.
