Let Homeowners Install More Solar Panels with no limits and Sell Back More to the Grid

The Issue

To the City of Calgary,

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge you to reconsider the current regulations on residential solar collectors. These regulations limit the number of solar panels a home can have based on its electricity consumption plus 5% extra. This means that homeowners who want to install more solar panels and generate more clean energy are prevented from doing so.

We believe that this policy is unacceptable and unfair for several reasons:

- It discourages the adoption of solar energy, which is a renewable and environmentally friendly source of power.

- It reduces the potential savings and income for homeowners who want to sell their excess electricity back to the grid.

- It contradicts the City's own Climate Action Strategy, which aims to promote renewable energy sources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We request that the City of Calgary remove the limit on the number of solar panels a home can have and allow homeowners to install as many solar panels as they can afford and sell back to the grid more. This would benefit not only the homeowners, but also the City and the environment.

We hope that you will take our petition into consideration and make the necessary changes to support solar energy in Calgary.

Sincerely,

People of Calgary
